A Bit About Me
Hi! I’m Advika, a Grade 11 student and the founder of the initiative, ‘A Stitch for A Smile.’
My passion for crocheting developed through a single school workshop and numerous hours scrolling on the internet looking at the world of stuffed toys and cardigans that crochet opened up. Soon, I self-taught myself more stitches to be able to have a gift for all my loved ones on their birthdays!
When I’m not busy ticking off requests on my to-do list, you can find me playing the piano with headphones on to escape into my personal space. Most days, I enjoy curling up in bed after playing badminton, tearing up while rereading one of my favourites, ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ by Khaled Hosseini.
I’m excited to share my knowledge with other members of my community, start small and expand this initiative to greater heights.

My name is Varsha. Crochet is my hobby. I self learnt it during covid and the smile which a little crochet flower i gave my friend inspired me to make more things. Along with advika I taught the didis and girls in the neighborhood to make these toys. I also made them to add to my pocket money and am so happy to see them bringing more smiles.

I came to Delhi from my village in Bihar to work here in a house to pay off my loans. I have two little kids aged 3 and 6 who live in the village. I have always made sweaters for them by hand. For the first time I used this skill to learn to make these beautiful toys and got extra money.
